The faculty of pharmacy at the University of Helsinki is taking a leading role in research and teaching on the environmental impacts of pharmacy. Finland will have the world’s first professorship in sustainable development in pharmacy.
This year, instead of giving gifts or sending Christmas cards, we want to make a donation to the sustainable future and green pharmacy. Once again, we made a donation to the sustainable pharmacy fund of the University of Helsinki and the new professorship. With this donation, we want to support the establishment of the world’s first professorship in sustainable development in pharmacy.
Our objective is to promote actions that effectively reduce the harmful environmental impacts of pharmaceuticals at all stages of their life cycles. The need for sustainable pharmacy is global, and the professorship will make sustainable development an established field of research and teaching within the discipline of pharmacy. The research group around the professorship will bring together different experts in the sector, from medicine developers, industrial operators, authorities and NGOs to experts who are in direct contact with medicine users.
